Strip Grazing for a Pony - Restrictive Grazing for Our Shetland Pony

What with a few years sunlight on top of the ample rainfall the paddock grass is growing like brainsick and here at our topographic point in Cornwall we have got got got to command how, and how much our ponies are grazing.

For those that have not read any of our material before we have a Cleveland Bay mare, a Welshman Section Type B and a Shetland Islands Pony. Fortunately for them we have got a concern supplying tacks for Mini's Shetlands and most of the Native Pony Breeds so our three are not short on gear wheel to maintain them happy, safe and dry.

However, our three are still on restricted graze albeit for different grounds and are likely to stay so through to the winter. Our Shetland Islands Pony, Poppy, had looked a spot sensitive (we establish a pulsation at the fetlock) however having been in for a few hebdomads she saw the horseshoer earlier in the hebdomad and it all expressions fine. That said, we necessitate to be aware of the possible jobs for her and indeed all ponies and ticker how much graze she have entree too. To seek and do certain that all corset well with her we are strip eating her on one of the paddocks so she doesn't acquire entree to too much grass at once.

We are giving her somes 4 metre by 20 metre broad strip of paddock and only giving her entree to the strip once we have got been over it with the lawnmower. We are then mowing each strip before we give her entree to it and leaving her out for few hours only. We are bringing her in for the nighttime with entree to hay using the Mini Miser Haynet we are so pleased with... A spot of difficult work but she's looking great on it.

Our Welsh, Gulliver, had been set on restricted graze just to be on the safe side and will remain restricted but is slowly disbursement a spot more clip graze albeit on very short grass.

In the stalls we are still using the Mini Miser Haynet and the Wee Pony Haynet- these are the one's that have got holes that are half the size of the holes in normal Haynets so are perfect for avaricious ponies. We have got these for sale so acquire in touching if you necessitate one.

There still looks to be the feeling that proprietors necessitate to be witting for marks of Laminitis so we will necessitate to be more than aware that normal of just how much grass our ponies are getting. As we suggested in former articles, if you have got got any concerns we would strongly counsel consulting a vet.

Please expression out for our other articles and acquire in touching if you necessitate any aid or advice on tack and necessities for your Mini, Shetland Islands or Pony.

You can larn more than about us and have a expression at merchandises for restricted graze at our website.
